Job Description
Deliver flexible, high-quality direct patient care as a PRN Registered Nurse within a fast-paced healthcare facility. This role is responsible for conducting comprehensive health assessments, formulating and executing individualized nursing care plans, administering medications, managing wound care, providing telemetry monitoring, and educating patients and families. Working closely with an interdisciplinary medical team, the PRN RN serves as a strong patient advocate to ensure optimal recovery, safety, and continuity of care across medical, surgical, and pediatric settings.
Job Responsibilities & Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct Clinical Care: Perform health evaluations, monitor vital signs, administer medications, manage wound care, and adapt nursing interventions across medical, surgical, and pediatric patient populations.
- Telemetry & Cardiac Monitoring: Conduct telemetry monitoring, interpret cardiac rhythms, and respond swiftly to clinical changes or abnormalities.
- Patient & Family Education: Clear up complex medical information for patients and families, guiding them on treatment plans, medication schedules, and preventive care strategies.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration & Advocacy: Coordinate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and allied health professionals to advocate for patient rights, preferences, and holistic care plans.
- Documentation & EHR: Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical charts within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
Requirements:
- Licensure: Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Alabama.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate Degree in Nursing - ADN or Bachelor of Science in Nursing - BSN).
- Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience: Minimum one (1) year of clinical nursing experience in a hospital or healthcare environment.
- Core Competencies: Strong knowledge of medical/surgical nursing principles, telemetry monitoring, clinical documentation, and patient advocacy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Specialty certifications such as Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN) or Pediatric Nursing Certification.
- Background in telemetry/cardiac care units or exposure to advanced nursing practice.
