Job Description
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Mental Health Technician serves as an active member of the patient treatment team. You will provide continuous patient care supervision, therapeutic milieu management, and role modeling to support individual recovery goals and maintain a safe, healing environment.
Job Responsibilities & Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain continuous patient supervision and conduct regular safety rounds (Q15 rounds and one-to-one supervision).
- Lead therapeutic MHT patient groups and support individualized patient care plans.
- Promote a safe environment by participating in crisis intervention and team-based restraint situations when necessary.
- Assist patients with daily activities, observe behavior changes, and document interactions clearly and accurately.
- Respond rapidly to patient needs, signals, alarms, and emergency codes.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Experience Level: Entry Level (0–1+ years healthcare or behavioral health experience).
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of previous experience in a healthcare or behavioral health setting is strongly preferred.
- Certifications: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- Training & Onboarding: Must complete and maintain aggression management/crisis intervention training (provided during orientation) and pass competency assessments within 90 days of hire.
- Key Skills & Physical Requirements: Strong communication, active listening, and multi-tasking abilities in a fast-paced environment; ability to lift up to 30 lbs, bend/reach/stoop, and participate in team restraints.
