Job Description
The Licensed Counselor III performs critical clinical tasks related to the care, treatment, and rehabilitation of program clients within our Adult Outpatient department in Lakeland, FL. This role serves as a senior clinical resource within the agency, providing direct counseling services as well as clinical supervision to licensed interns and assigned team members.
Job Responsibilities & Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Clinical Assessment & Therapy: Assess clients referred for substance abuse and mental health evaluations; provide individual, group, and family counseling; make tailored treatment recommendations based on individual client needs.
- Clinical Supervision & Mentorship: Provide clinical supervision and coordinate the work of delegated staff; maintain credentials to supervise assigned licensed interns; act as a clinical resource for staff regarding therapeutic modalities, methods, and techniques.
- Case Management & Coordination: Perform case management functions, including maintaining comprehensive case records and coordinating additional community services and referrals as needed.
- Agency Representation & Legal Matters: Represent the agency in matters regarding petitions for involuntary treatment as directed; consult with outside professionals regarding addiction and mental health interventions.
- Credentialing & Billing Compliance: Secure an individual NPI number and apply for a State of Florida Medicaid provider number within 30 days of employment (linking credentials to Tri-County for Medicaid and private insurance billing).
Requirements
- Active State of Florida licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
- Minimum of two (2) years of post-licensure clinical experience.
- Qualified/credentialed to supervise licensed interns in the State of Florida.
- Must possess an NPI number and participate on insurance/Medicaid/Medicare panels for billing purposes (or obtain within 30 days of hire).
Preferred Qualifications & Knowledge:
- Extensive knowledge of the causes, symptoms, progression, and treatment models of substance use and mental health disorders.
- Strong understanding of diverse therapeutic techniques and the ability to identify the most effective form of treatment for each client.
