Job Description
Provide direct therapeutic care, behavior management, and continuous supervision for residents within a specialized behavioral health facility. Core duties include delivering behavioral interventions (redirection, de-escalation), conducting mandatory 15-minute safety checks, documenting daily progress, and maintaining a clean, safe, and supportive residential milieu.
Job Responsibilities & Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Therapeutic Interventions & Safety: Execute individual behavior plans using Mandt techniques, verbal de-escalation, and redirection; conduct and log required 15-minute bed/visual checks throughout 8-hour shifts; provide 1-on-1 observation or suicide precaution monitoring as assigned.
- Daily Care & Activity Guidance: Monitor resident hygiene and physical care needs; lead and participate in recreational and instructional group activities; prepare and deliver unit training sessions.
- Facility Maintenance & Infection Control: Perform routine housekeeping (sweeping, mopping, dusting, moving furniture up to 50 lbs, operating floor buffers); strictly adhere to Universal Precautions and Infection Control protocols (PPE usage and hand hygiene).
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate Daily Behavioral Observation and Progress Note forms in full compliance with agency, state (MS DMH), and facility protocols.
Requirements:
- Education & Experience:
- SCP III: High School Diploma or GED + 2–3 years of direct care experience required.
- Preferred: Educational background in Psychology, Social Science, or Human Services.
- Certifications & Clearances: Active CPR and First Aid certifications required; must obtain and maintain annual Mandt certification.
- Licensing & Physical Abilities: Valid driver’s license and personal auto liability insurance to operate state vehicles; ability to perform frequent physical tasks including walking (up to 2.5+ hours per shift for safety rounds), lifting/moving up to 50 lbs, bending, reaching, and operating cleaning machinery.
