Job Description
We’re looking for a compassionate and driven Medication Nurse who is dedicated to patient-centered care and recovery. Job Responsibilities & Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Patient Care & Dosing: Administer methadone as prescribed, ensuring safe dosing; evaluate and assess new and existing patients to help determine the most appropriate course of treatment; observe patients after medication administration and assess their response to treatment.
- Specimen Collection & Monitoring: Collect and document urine specimens and monitor lab work and physical assessments.
- Inventory & Documentation: Maintain medical supply inventory; ensure medications are received, stored, and handled in accordance with DEA regulations; prepare courtesy and vacation dose packages with accuracy; keep patient dosing records complete, organized, and up to date.
- Team Collaboration & Growth: Collaborate with counselors, nurses, and the broader care team; help onboard and mentor new nursing team members; earn phlebotomy certification when required and continue building clinical skills through ongoing learning.
- Compliance & Environment: Create a welcoming, respectful environment where every patient is treated with dignity and compassion; help ensure the treatment center meets all regulatory, licensing, and accreditation standards.
Requirements
- Licensed as an LPN in the state of North Carolina.
- CPR and First Aid certified.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in chemical addiction.
- Knowledge of medication dispensing equipment, centrifuges, physical assessment tools, breathalyzers, and other standard clinical devices.
- Strong data entry, computer skills, and proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR).
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, act independently and collaboratively, and utilize excellent critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Fast-paced clinical environment with periods of increased activity.
- Exposure to patients with substance use disorders, mental health conditions, infectious diseases, and criminal justice involvement.
- Prolonged standing, bending, and stooping (alternating between sitting and standing).
- Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens (use of appropriate PPE when required).
- Frequent keyboarding and computer use.
