Job Description
Provide direct observation, milieu engagement, and client support during overnight shifts within an acute sobering and substance use recovery facility. Core duties include greeting incoming clients, conducting initial orientations, tracking vital signs according to protocol, assisting with prescribed medication self-administration, and maintaining clear shift records to promote a safe and compassionate treatment environment.
Job Responsibilities & Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Intake & Care: Meet with new clients, review rules and daily schedules, take vital signs according to protocol, and assist with timely self-administration of prescribed medications.
- Milieu Engagement & Safety: Maintain active engagement with clients throughout the shift to support personal growth, manage distressed interactions professionally, and ensure environmental safety.
- Documentation & Communication: Accurately log interventions, client communications, and services according to agency policy; deliver complete verbal and written shift reports during handovers.
- Teamwork & Improvement: Participate in staff meetings, peer reviews, performance appraisals, and continuous quality improvement efforts.
Requirements:
- Education & Certifications: Adult CPR Certification required; licensing/certification to meet state requirements where applicable.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience working with substance use disorder (SUD) or mental health populations required.
- Technical & Soft Skills: Basic computer proficiency for data entry; strong written/verbal communication; ability to handle complex, distressed client interactions with empathy and professionalism.
- Preferred Qualifications: Medical background (MA, NA, hospital, or group home experience); experience with the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC); prior case management experience.
