Job Description
Utilize personal lived recovery experience to provide supportive peer counseling, model optimism, and foster empowerment for individuals enrolled in medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and behavioral health programs. Core duties include delivering client-centered peer support, conducting community outreach, assisting clients with personal recovery goals, maintaining strict documentation standards, and promoting a recovery-oriented culture within the treatment facility and local community.
Job Responsibilities & Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Peer Mentorship & Recovery Support: Role-model recovery by sharing lived experience to instill hope; assist clients in identifying strengths, building support networks, and achieving treatment, employment, and educational goals.
- Outreach & Community Linkages: Network with community organizations (mental health, housing, vocational, case management) to build referral pathways and increase community understanding of MAT for opioid use disorder.
- Clinical Collaboration & Documentation: Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment teams on client care plans; maintain accurate encounter notes, progress tracking, and monthly programmatic reports.
- Compliance & Professional Standards: Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality guidelines; project a positive community image; attend required team meetings and continuing education functions.
Requirements:
- Education & Age: Minimum 18 years of age with a High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Lived Experience & Credentialing: Self-identified person in recovery with demonstrated personal recovery experience; Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) credential required.
- Technical & Soft Skills: Strong written, oral, and data-entry skills (computer and word processing literacy); ability to work with culturally diverse populations and manage stressful situations calmly.
- Clearances & Compliance: Must pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen; satisfactory professional references required.
